Matt Cairns: Spring is a time for wellness

Physiotherapist Matt Cairns is the owner of Renew Physiotherapy and Exercise in Edmonton.

The snow has finally melted in Edmonton and warmer weather has arrived. It’s time to shake off the cobwebs and get moving. Our cars are not the only things that need a spring tune up; the seasonal weather is also the perfect time to start a new wellness routine, says physiotherapist Matt Cairns.

Matt has been a beacon of the community for years. You may know him from his time as a personal trainer working out of the old JCC; he may have been your trainer, or your parents’, or even your grandparents’! He’s led March of the Living, and Birthright trips out of Edmonton, supervised youth in BBYO, and been a counselor at daycamp. Clearly being a part of the Jewish community of Edmonton has always been important to Matt Cairns, and that is why he is so excited to announce the opening of his new clinic in Meadowlark. As a licensed Physiotherapist, Matt has opened ‘Renew Physiotherapy & Exercise’ located in the Meadowlark Professional Building on 87th avenue and Meadowlark Road.

“Renew Physiotherapy & Exercise represents what I would like to experience as a patient seeking information about my symptoms, condition or overall wellness from a physiotherapist,” Matt explains.

“I have spent many years working as a Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT), Certified Pilates Instructor and licensed Physiotherapist in the health, fitness and rehabilitation industry. Years of personal training and teaching Pilates have exposed me to a wide variety of people, conditions and abilities. This experience has proven the healing nature of exercise when applied properly.”

Physiotherapy has provided Matt with a solid foundation in musculoskeletal/orthopedic examination, diagnosis and treatment that has proven to be a perfect complement to exercise program development and Matt’s dedicated passion for fitness and physical well-being.

“I have a particular interest in the role of exercise in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, and value the importance of thorough patient education. I strongly believe in tailoring treatment sessions and exercise programs to the individual needs of the patient,” adds Cairns.

At ‘Renew Physiotherapy & Exercise’ Matt provides one hour assessments and thirty minute follow-up appointments to ensure that each patient gets the appropriate attention and time for a thorough and positive experience. For those seeking individual exercise therapy, Matt offers one hour sessions that contain a balanced mixture of strength training, Pilates, Yoga, stretching and cardiovascular exercise.

Matt Cairns encourages you to come by the clinic, have a look around and a kibitz, or book an appointment. His grand opening celebration will be held on April 30 from 11 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 7 pm.

“Join us in the celebration of opening the new clinic,” concludes Cairns. “Come meet the staff and check out our new space.”
