Kosher meals have now been approved for all Alberta correctional facilities

Rabbi Ari Drelich

(AJNews) – According to Rabbi Ari Drelich, there is some good news for Jewish Albertans to acknowledge this week.  “Chabad Lubavitch of Edmonton and Bnai Brith Canada are pleased to announce that, Boruch Hashem, after many years of lobbying the Alberta Government, Kosher meals have been approved for all of Alberta’s correctional facilities,” stated Rabbi Ari.

This means, that for those of the Jewish faith who unfortunately find themselves in any correctional facility in Alberta, will now be able to access Kosher food for the first time.

“Special thanks goes to Mr. Avremel (Abe) Silverman for the tremendous support and assistance in seeing this project come to fruition,” added Rabbi Ari.

For more information or if someone knows of someone who is incarcerated, please phone Chabad of Edmonton at 780-993-1818. All information will be kept confidential.
