Westridge & Wolf Willow communities propose parks rejuvenation with the City of Edmonton

(AJNews) – The Westridge-Wolf Willow-Country Club Community League (WWWCCCL) is excited to announce that the board has successfully proposed a project to rejuvenate both community parks with the City of Edmonton. The vision is to enhance each park by adding shade sails above existing equipment and add gazebos or shelters with picnic tables. Additional enhancements are always possible, such as changing park surface (removing the sand and/or mulch) or adding barbeques.  Such luxurious additions, however, are dependent on the cost and funding.

The process has three stages, the first being well underway and mostly paperwork. As part of stage one, the WWWCCCL will initiate a community needs assessment via an online survey, in order to determine exactly what the neighbours desire. While the main focus of the survey is to assess park needs, there will be questions addressing broader topics such as community program and safety.

The second stage begins once a “project down payment” has been secured.  At this point, the New Park Development Program (NPDP) and City of Edmonton handle the concept and design elements, while the WWWCCCL works on raising funds (fundraiser, donations, and grants). The final stage, which is projected to begin in Spring 2023, is the construction stage.

Any individual or business interested in being involved or supporting this vital community initiative is encouraged to contact the project chair, Christina Reboh, at creboh@gmail.com.
