(April 8, 2020) – Passover is a holiday of hope and through its lessons, the Jews have become the People of Hope. Even our national anthem, Ha-Tikvah, means The Hope. At the close of the seder, we recite – Next Year in Jerusalem. These words were uttered even when it was inconceivable that the Jewish People would return to their ancestral homeland. However, in 1948 the greatest miracle of our lifetimes occurred, as we collectively established the State of Israel. We support Israel, not because it is a weak and needy country. On the contrary, we support Israel because it is a shining example of what can be achieved when the Jewish People unite behind a common cause.
The work of JNF helps to ensure that there is a prosperous tomorrow for Israel. JNF builds the foundations for Israel’s future in order to enrich and enhance the lives of all of its citizens. Recently we have raised funds to support Israel’s hungry through a JNF project in collaboration with Leket Israel. Currently, we are fundraising to purchase ventilators for Israeli hospitals which are desperately needed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Israel’s vulnerable will not be forgotten as these people are family and taking care of them is our personal responsibility.
