The Grade 7 students presented MP Mark Adler with a Talmud Torah T shirt during their class to Ottwa and he presented them with a beautiful Canadian flag

The Grade 7 Talmud Torah class travelled to Ottawa last month with Frida Pesin, Executive Director of the Talmud Torah Society.

While there, the students participated in a program with the Ottawa Jewish Community School, as well as touring the city including the National Art Gallery and the Parliament Buildings.

They visited the Israeli Embassy and also met York Centre MP Mark Adler, who was that day presenting the first reading of Bill C-678 to the House of Commons. The bill would make it a criminal offence to sell or buy personal property that belonged to a victim or survivor of the Holocaust for the purpose of willfully promoting hatred against any identifiable group.

“It was an excellent trip,” said Pesin, “and our visit to the House of Commons was especially interesting because we had the privilege of seeing MP Mark Adler introduce the reading of Bill C-678. ”

The students were able to instantly relate the experience to their Judaic Studies program at Talmud Torah.
