Menorah Academy’s 2014/15 End of Year Celebration was the culmination of a wonderful school year.
The theme of the celebration was Building a Better Me at Menorah Academy. The entire school gathered for an assembly that looked more like a Union meeting than an assembly as students and staff were presented with personalized, plastic construction hats with a Lego character in their image on the back.
Then everyone enjoyed a Hot Dog Barbeque catered by Chef Eddie, followed by a special presentation for Mrs. Mintz, Menorah’s retiring Kindergarten teacher. Some of her loved ones to joined the special occasion as she was presented with a tearful goodbye and happy retirement video created by Miss Rachelli Cohen and Director of Communications Ms. Bobbi Scheelar.
When the tears dried up, the celebration continued with the Grade 9 Girls Moving Up Ceremony. Just when staff and students were ready to go back to class, Ms. Scheelar presented the school with an amended End of Year School-Wide Photo, a tradition started 4 years ago. This time, Ms. Scheelar took all the customized Lego characters she created for every student and staff member and recreated the school-wide photo. Sylvia Benjamin, Menorah’s Office Manager, surprised the school as well with a gigantic Lego inspired chocolate cake that was devoured afterschool. The day of celebrations concluded with a wonderful event at the Fantasyland Hotel where the graduating Junior High boys were honoured.
