Edmonton Jewish News is expanding its reach

by Deborah Shatz

To all Readers and advertisers of Edmonton Jewish News:

Thank you so much for welcoming us into your homes each month. It has been our honour to be a source of print communication for the Edmonton Jewish Community for over 25 years.

As many of you know, we launched this vibrant website a few months ago and it has received rave reviews from everyone who has interacted with it. We are averaging over 120 visitors each day (even on Shabbat!) and we’ve actually had 11,239 visitors since we launched just after Pesach.  Our article by Andrew Gow about the demise of the Jewish Studies Program at the University of Alberta registered 1679 hits on the website.

Our Facebook page has also proven to be very popular and it has been a tremendous vehicle to let Facebook users know when we have posted new articles and when our new digital edition is available. We’ve also had occasion to share additional newsy items that we haven’t posted on our website.  As of today we have 169 ‘Likes’ for our Facebook page and our Facebook post about local company Good Luck Socks reached 2600 people.

We have had several requests from non-Facebook users to let them know when our digital editions are available and when we have interesting articles and information about the community to share.

The solution to this is to create an email notification system to alert readers when new information is available. This could be done as a weekly notice that would go right to your email inbox.

If you are interested in this service, there are three ways for you to subscribe – at no cost to you.

First, call the Edmonton Jewish News office and speak with Dan or Stacey; give them your email address and once we have 100 email addresses collected we will start this service.

The second way is to send us an email to edmjnews@shaw.ca and request an email notification. The third way is to click Contact Us through the website edmontonjewishnews.com and request the email service.

If the interest is there, we are more than happy to provide this service. We look forward to hearing from you.
