Dust off your festival chair – its time for Calgary Folk Fest: July 21-24

(EJNews) – Goodbye Calgary Stampede and hello Calgary Folk Festival. If you are looking for a cooler, hipper vibe and a great way to relax after the Stampede frenzy be sure to take in the wonderful atmosphere and eclectic music that comprises the CFF at Prince’s Island Park in Calgary from July 21 – 24.

Headliners include Cat Power, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, the Tallest Man on Earth, the New Pornographers, Jose Gonzalez, the Cave Singers, Fortunate Ones, Kathleen Edwards, Whitehorse, Lord Huron, Bry Webb, the Weather Station, and the Sadies, among many others.

We are certainly not a homogenous group but Members of the Tribe with an affinity for Middle Eastern music, klezmer music and all things Jewish are in for a real treat with this year’s line-up. Besides the incredibly talented Tallest Man on Earth sounding remarkably like a young Bob Dylan (with better vocal chops) closing the night on Thursday, other performers to watch for include Geoff Berner, Mark/ Berner/ Demeanor, Ayrad, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jenny Scheinman, Jerusalem in My Heart and Yemen Blues with Ravid Kahalani.
