Camp BB- Riback at Pine Lake, Alberta has a position open for Camp Director.

Canada Camp BB- Riback is inspiring Jewish connections and building the future leaders of our community and we are looking for a Camp Director who can lead us there.

We are working to create a safe, sustainable, supportive environment where Jewish youth explore, grow and connect with self, others, nature and their Jewish identity. We primarily serve the Calgary and Edmonton Jewish communities but have campers and staff from all over Canada and Western USA.

The Camp Director will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, oversight and administration of Camp BBRiback.

He or she will be responsible for managing human and financial resources, as well as creating plans for effective marketing that contribute positively to the recruitment and retention of campers and staff.

Responsibilities Will Include:

Lead the camp team in designing, delivering and evaluating camp programs to ensure that they meet and exceed the needs and interests of the campers.

Implement best practices in staff recruitment, management and development.

Work with the Board to implement a successful marketing plan to reach goals of camper enrolment. Supervise daily operations of camp, including administration, camper care, staff supervision and food service.

Maintain awareness, knowledge and understanding of current social trends, including Jewish camping, child development, social media and customer service.

Represent our organization at camp fairs and conferences.

Develop and implement recruiting strategies to attract new families to the program. Function as a leader and role model for youth in the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have three to five years of management and/or supervisory experience preferable in a children’s day or overnight camp setting.

Strong management skills, including the ability to inspire and lead staff members.

Exceptional skill and capacity for engagement and relationship building with diverse constituencies (campers, parents, staff, alumni, board members, donors, etc.)

Extensive administration and planning skills, including strong computer proficiency

Ability to develop and implement creative, safe and challenging programs

Experience working with a variety of children between the ages of 7 and 18 years old

Ability to provide professional vision and leadership

Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team

Solid understanding of and belief in mission-based camping

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s Degree desirable) in Child Development, Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field

Job Type: Full-time or Part time Travel back and forth between Calgary, Edmonton and Pine Lake will be required. Successful applicant can live in either Calgary or Edmonton.

Salary commensurate upon experience.
