A message from Rabbi Steven Schwarzman: Covid and Halakhah

Rabbi Steven Schwarzman provided this Covid update and reminder to all Beth Shalom members:

Jewish law requires all of us who are eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19, because we are commanded to preserve our own lives and to protect the lives of others.

With the current Delta wave, we have now instituted the following policies:

We ask anyone over the age of 12 who is not fully immunized, as well as anyone not feeling well, to stay home and join us on the livestream.

We ask all those in shul to wear a mask at all times, except those speaking/chanting on the bimah and children too young to wear a mask.

As of August 29, we will temporarily hold off on kiddush lunches. We’ll relaunch kiddush when the current wave subsides.

This will help keep us all safe. May we all be blessed with a new year of health!
