(AJNews) – Gr. 6 students hosted over 35 Bubbies and Zaidies at Talmud Torah for a lively Yom Ha’atzmaut tea, followed by front-row seats at the school-wide celebration. Organized by the TT Society for the second year in a row, the event was a tremendous hit. Students honed their social and serving skills, schmoozed, shared stories, and built fun and meaningful intergenerational connections.

Following the tea, students and families gathered to celebrate Israel’s 78th birthday, sharing joy, pride, and cultural connection. Student performances highlighted Israel’s independence, resilience, and vibrant spirit. The celebration strengthened the students’ shared Jewish identity, deepened community bonds, and honoured the traditions and values that continue to inspire us.

Later that evening the entire community joined together at Beth Israel Shul to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut with a hot dog dinner, and performances by the Aviv Dancers, the TT Choir and the Young at Heart Choir from the Jewish Senior Citizens Centre. The program was followed by a joyful family dance party.
