(Calgary) – October 20 was a truly inspiring evening as Calgary Jewish Federation hosted a memorable community event in support of the UJA Campaign, featuring renowned Jewish activist and speaker Jonny Daniels, and honouring ally W. Brett Wilson.

Jonny Daniels met with a group of Calgary’s Holocaust survivors for a heartfelt afternoon of visiting and sharing stories. Photo by Marnie Jazwicki.

Jonny Daniels’ address was informative and engaging and very well received by the community. Calgary Jewish Federation leadership extended a hearty “Kol hakavod to event co-chairs Tamar Zenith and Melissa Mendelman for their outstanding leadership and success in raising vital funds for the annual campaign. We are also grateful to Marnie Bondar for coordinating a heartfelt afternoon gathering between Jonny Daniels and Calgary’s Holocaust survivors.”

Although Daniels was unable to share the Survivors Torah with the Calgary community due to travel delays, he spent an inspirational and moving afternoon visiting and sharing stories with several of Calgary’s Holocaust Survivors. Daniels promised to return to Calgary with the Torah so the Calgary community would have an opportunity to participate in this meaningful project that enables survivors and their descendants to add a letter in a Torah that was rescued from the Holocaust.
