Mark your calendars for the Edmonton Heritage Festival. Taking place over the August long weekend (August 2 and 3), the festival is a showcase of Canada’s vibrant multiculturalheritage.
Visitors come from around Edmonton and across the continent, to spend some time sampling the tastes, smells, sights, and sounds of a diverse array of cultures. This year there are 60 pavilions representing nearly 85 cultures from around the world.
The Israel Pavilion, hosted by the Jewish Federation of Edmonton, will be showing off the beauty of Israel and Israeli culture in this year’s Festival yet again through our extravagant cultural display, talented entertainment, and delicious cuisine. The Pavilion has won several awards over the last few years, including third place in Entertainment (2012) and first place in Cultural Display (2013, 2014).
The 1800 square foot display takes you on a remarkable journey through Israel starting at the great heights of Masada down to the beauty of Tel Aviv, with stops at the Dead Sea, Ein Gedi, and the Carmel Market along the way.
The very talented Aviv Dancers will be providing visitors with their own journey through Israel, showcasing Israeli arts and entertainment.
Last but certainly not least, visitors will also have the opportunity to try some unique Israeli foods such as lemonana (lemonade with mint), rugelach, and falafel.
As the Israel Pavilion grows in popularity, we need you to ensure its success. We need volunteers to help with the cultural display and food service.
For more information or if you would like to volunteer for the Pavilion, please contact Christina Tsipora Reboh at creboh@gmail.com or (780) 982-9477.
The 2015 Israel Pavilion at the Edmonton Heritage Festival is sure to be a hit! Come visit on Sunday, August 2nd and Monday, August 3rd, as we are closed for Shabbat. We hope to see you there.
