Rosh Hashanah greetings from Alberta Premier Jason Kenney

(September 29, 2019) – Premier Jason Kenney issued the following statement as Albertans of the Jewish faith celebrate the New Year:

“Shanah tovah umetukah to everyone marking the arrival of the year 5780.

“The Jewish people have been in Alberta since the 19th century. Their presence, communities and focus on tikkun olam – making the world better – are a tremendous blessing for our province.

“And as the shofar sounds to mark Rosh Hashanah, we will proudly continue to stand against anti-Semitism here at home and shoulder-to-shoulder with our good friends in Israel.

“Alberta is a haven for the Jewish people, a place where they can look to the future filled with hope and confidence.

“In this bright new year, I wish Jewish Albertans all the joy, peace and time for solemn reflection that come with the High Holy Days.”
