(AJNews) – The Calgary regional office of Jewish National Fund of Canada will host their annual Negev Event fundraiser on May 9, 2024. They will be presenting an inspiring evening with special guest, IsraeliAmerican Actor and Activist Yuval David. This event raises funds for social-service infrastructure projects in Israel, and it is JNF Calgary’s most important fundraiser of the year.
It is sure to be an exceptional evening. Yuval David is an Emmy-Award winning actor, director, and filmmaker who has won over 100 international film festival awards, and has played roles in shows and productions with ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Hulu, FX, HBO, Comedy Central, Disney, and Sony. He appears on broadcast news programs in the US, Israel, and internationally as a news commentator and writes articles for international publications.
As an actor, Yuval has played various roles including that of Matvey Sokolov in the television series Madam Secretary and a regular on What Would You Do? His filmmaking includes directing and producing, including the creation of man on the street performances.
On twitter, Yuval recently wrote, “Six months since October 7th, yet our wounds are raw, our hearts still trapped in that day. Our loved ones remain in tunnels, their dignity stolen, while the world turns a blind eye to the terror that holds them. IDF heroes have fallen, trying to bring them back, their futures lost. It’s April, but our souls are stuck in October, mourning, fighting, waiting.”
This year’s Negev is raising funds to rebuild Kibbutz Kissufim, one of the many kibbutzim damaged or destroyed by Hamas on October 7th. They will be building important communal spaces for children and youth, to hasten their return home and support their recovery from trauma.
The event will also feature remarks from Tai Shaul, former commander in the Shin Bet (Israel’s FBI) and the Israeli Navy’s undercover operations in Gaza. He is a native of Kibbutz Kissufim and has been put in charge of its rebuilding.
