(Calgary) – Since 1990, the Jewish Community Foundation of Calgary (JCFC) has been providing support to the local Jewish community, working with fundholders to fund specific initiatives that make a lasting impact. Working collaboratively, the JCFC empowers both groups to bring innovative and meaningful projects to life.

The JCFC’s grants & scholarships initiatives are aimed at funding innovative ideas brought forward by community organizations supporting community programs and post-secondary students in advancing their education. The JCFC works closely with both fundholders and community organizations to identify projects that add meaningful value and strengthens the community. Through this collaborative approach our fundholders have been able to support a number of transformative projects.

In 2024, nearly 20 students from Calgary received scholarships for post-secondary education. This support was made possible by the foresight and generosity of fundholders who believe in the power of education. Their investment ensures that these students can thrive as future community leaders, professionals, and changemakers.

In addition to scholarships, JCFC funds have supported impactful initiatives through community program grants. The Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA) was able to construct a greenhouse in their science lab, offering students an interactive way to explore Israeli agricultural technology practices and innovations. The CJA also created an initiative that focuses on craftsmanship and community building by refurbishing a table and chairs which will be donated to Jewish Family Service Calgary to support a family in need. The Jewish Historical Society of Southern Alberta revitalized their rotating photo display at the JCC. This display, which is available for public viewing, preserves and shares the rich history of Jewish life in Calgary.

The JCFC remains committed to funding innovative initiatives that deliver real value to the community.

Grants and Scholarship applications are now open. Community organizations and post-secondary students can apply at www.jcfc.ca.
