(Hey Alma) – Over the past year, we as a society have collectively been spoiled with a variety of thoughtful, conversation-provoking Jewish entertainment and performances by Jewish actors that range from heartwarming and funny to gut-wrenching and anxiety-inducing. Now, with Golden Globe award nominations out today, it seems that this award season is going to highlight many of these Jewish stories and storytellers.
There’s Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain” a movie he wrote, directed and starred in based on his own experience dealing with his family’s Holocaust trauma; and “The Brutalist,” an epic historical drama about a Holocaust survivor crushed by American capitalism, which received seven nominations. There’s the hottest TV show of the year “Nobody Wants This,” about a hot rabbi played by Adam Brody navigating an interfaith relationship. And who could forget Mikey Madison‘s star turn in “Anora”? Or that Timothée Chalamet is playing legendary Jewish folk musician Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown”?
