Chabad of Alberta Launches “Lift Your Life” Course by JLI, Drawing Strong Community Interest

Calgary — The Rosh Chodesh Society, an international Jewish women’s learning network, has launched its newest course, “Lift Your Life,” engaging women and girls in Calgary and across nearly 300 chapters worldwide.

While the Rosh Chodesh Society serves over 9,000 students worldwide, the Calgary chapter was newly launched this December, when Chabad of Alberta established a new local branch of the Rosh Chodesh Society from the Jewish Learning Institute (JLI). Despite being in its early stages, the Calgary chapter has already seen remarkable interest, with close to 90 registrations. Community enthusiasm continues to build, with participants joining even after the first class began and word of the program spreading quickly throughout the community.

The course is run by Chabad of Alberta and is led by Rebbetzin Rochel Matusof, whose engaging and approachable teaching style has helped create a warm, inclusive, and judgment-free learning environment.

“Lift Your Life” is a once-a-month course. Participants may choose between Thursday evening with a soup bar or Sunday morning with a light breakfast. The course includes thoughtfully prepared handouts and a beautiful textbook. While in-person attendance is strongly encouraged to foster connection and discussion, Zoom access is also available. Because each class is independent, women and girls are welcome to join at any time during the year.

The course draws on Kabbalistic teachings to explore everyday aspects of life through a meaningful spiritual lens. Topics include the deeper meaning of sleep, mindful approaches to eating, cultivating authentic happiness, balancing logic and faith, uncovering one’s divine potential, and channeling emotions such as anger. The upcoming class, titled “Reframing Rage: Learn to Flip Frustration into Fuel for Growth,” will focus on transforming anger into a constructive force for personal growth.

At the heart of the Rosh Chodesh Society is the belief that every Jewish person carries a Divine spark and an inherent connection to the timeless wisdom of Torah. Whether participants are deeply rooted in Jewish practice or newly discovering their spiritual path, all are welcomed into a space defined by open hearts, open minds, and no judgment.

With close to 300 chapters worldwide, the Rosh Chodesh Society honors the wide spectrum of Jewish journeys represented across its global sisterhood. As interest continues to grow, Calgary’s new chapter is quickly establishing itself as a vibrant hub of learning, connection, and inspiration—uplifting women and girls, one month at a time.
