by Board Chair Jessica Miller Switzer and the Camp BB Riback Board of Directors
(AJNews) – On March 20, Camp BB Riback Board Chair Jessica Miller Switzer and the Board of Directors issued this important update:
As we prepare for Summer 2026, we are excited to share important updates about the future of Camp BB Riback.
Last year, Stacy informed the board that he would be stepping down, and we began the process of searching for new leadership. It took time to find the right people – because we wanted to be thoughtful, deliberate, and ensure the strongest possible future for the camp. The wait was absolutely worth it.
Before anything else, we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Stacy. His dedication, hard work and commitment over the years helped bring Camp BB to where it is today. We are deeply grateful for everything he has done for our campers, staff, and community.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce the next generation of leadership – two individuals who bring passion, experience, and a deep love for Camp BB.
For the first time ever, Camp BB Riback will have two full-time, year round professional staff members: one based in Calgary and one in Edmonton. This expanded structure strengthens our ability to grow, innovate, and support our community all year long.
We are proud to welcome:
Cecil Horwitz – Executive Director
Adar Latak – Associate Director
Meet our new Executive Director: Cecil Horwitz
Cecil has already begun in his role and is fully engaged in preparing for the upcoming season. Cecil will be based out of Edmonton when not at camp. He can be reached anytime at cecil@campbb.com
Cecil has been part of the Camp BB community for over 15 years as both a camper and staff member. Camp BB has played a pivotal role in shaping his confidence, leadership, and lifelong friendships, instilling in him a deep appreciation for the camp’s spirit, ruach, and joy.
Professionally, Cecil has extensive experience as an entrepreneur and corporate leader. He has owned and grown his own businesses, led teams, and mentored emerging leaders, helping young professionals develop the skills, confidence, and vision needed to thrive. His experience building and scaling organizations in the corporate world gives him a unique perspective on strategy, operations, and leadership – skills he now brings to the nonprofit sector to benefit Camp BB and its community.
Cecil is passionate about creating environments where people can grow and succeed. He is committed to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of every camper and staff member, while fostering transformational experiences that build confidence, resilience and Jewish pride. His leadership focuses on strengthening camper programming, developing and mentoring staff, deepening alumni and community engagement and building long-term sustainability for future generations.
Cecil and his wife, Erin, have been married for 21 years. Their 15-year-old son, Arlo, has attended Camp BB for the past seven years, continuing the family’s connection to the community that has meant so much to them.
Meet our New Associate Director: Adar Latak
Adar will be officially starting at the end of April and we are thrilled to welcome him into this new full-time role based in Calgary when not at camp.
Adam is deeply motivated by Camp BB’s mission and its connection to the Jewish community. He grew up in Calgary with Israeli heritage and actively participates in Shabbat dinners, serves as a StandWithUs fellow for Israel advocacy, and hosts community events.
Adar brings a wide range of leadership experience, including working as a behavioral interventionist with high functioning autistic children in both one-on-one and group settings. Camp has played an important role in shaping who he is today, and he is excited to step into this role where he can make a meaningful impact and help connect kids to their Jewish community and identity.
Looking Ahead
With Cecil in Edmonton and Adar in Calgary, Camp BB Riback is entering a new era of stability, growth, and year-round engagement. Their combined passion and leadership will help us:
- Strengthen camper programming
- Support and mentor staff
- Deepen community and alumni involvement
- Build long-term sustainability
- Expand our presence in both major cities
We are energized for this moment and excited for what lies ahead.
Sincerely,
Board Chair Jessica Miller Switzer and the Board of Directors
